Pierre is a Canadian who has recently moved to the southern hemisphere as the first Professor of Timber Design, Faculty of Engineering at the University of Auckland.  A world-leading expert in bolted connector systems for wood, he recently received the 'Wood Advocate/Wood Champion' Award from the Canadian Wood Council for advancing wood engineering, education and research.

Also Adjunct Professor at the School of Geography, Planning & Architecture, University of Queensland, Tim has been described as one of the "influential figures in Australian architecture."  Recently completed projects include:  redevelopment of State Library of Queensland (in association with Peddle Thorp), Queensland University of Technology's Institute of Health & Biomedical Innovation.

Michael Snow - Executive Director, AHEC
Mike is a leading commentator on wood-related trends and issues.  The subjective impression that wood products are better than compeititve products with respect to environmental aspects can no be scintifically proved.  But are certification, green building and environmental procurement policies the answer for consumers?

Dr Bob Milner - Dept Civil Engineering, Monash University
Dr Milner has retired but remains active in the development of Australian and ISO standards, writing books and in consulting work for the timber and steel industries.  He is still active in adhesive bonding research and will shortly have a book chapter on                sustainability of construction materials.

Jack Norton - Senior Principal Scientist, DPI Brisbane
Jack is vice-president of the International Research Group on wood protection and has been involved with timber preservation for over 30 years.  His earlier focus was on timber treatment quality systems and he now concentrates on research into the durability of plantation grown hardwoods.

2008 Australian Timber Design Awards  The premier national timber design competition for the built environment, the national competition promotes and encourages outstanding timber design in the built environment professions.
